About Us
The Botswana International University of Science & Technology, or BIUST, is an international university located in the town of Palapye, Botswana. It is the nation’s second university, after the University of Botswana in the country’s capital, Gaborone.
Botswana’s first-ever satellite, BOTSAT-1, is expected to be launched (Net March 2025), marking a historic milestone in the country’s space exploration journey.
The President of the Republic of Botswana, Advocate Duma Boko, undertook a visit to the United States of America to attend the launch.
President Boko is accompanied by Honourable Prince Maele-Minister of Higher Education, Honourable Dr. David Tshere-Minister of Communication and Innovation, Professor Otlogetswe Totolo-BIUST Vice Chancellor, Dr. Dimane Mpoeleng-BOTSAT Project Lead as well as other Senior Government officials. The launch date is only confirmed 24 hrs before liftoff and is prioprietary, protected by SpaceX.
