OSHA is a government agency under the Office of the Prime Minister (Labor, Youth, Employment, and the Disabled). This agency is responsible for protecting workers from workplace hazards that can cause illness and accidents.
This responsibility is carried out through the administration of the Occupational Health and Safety Act No. 5 of 2003.
OSHA’s history dates back to 2001, when it was established under the Government Agency Act No. 30 of 1997 as part of the Government Service Improvement Program.
The purpose of establishing OSHA is to establish a government agency to oversee workplace safety and health.
OSHA is responsible for ensuring that workers work in an environment that is safe and healthy by adhering to established procedures for preventing accidents and occupational diseases.
